Hello Lakawon!

Lakawon Island, Cadiz Viejo, Negros Occidental

Lakawon, also called Llacaon, is a 13-hectare, banana-shaped island off the coast ofCadiz City in the northern portion of Negros Occidental, a province in the Western Visayasregion of the Philippines. A white sand beach resort on the island, a family-run business, is a popular destination for both local and foreign tourists.

Lakawon is 48 kilometers north of Bacolod City, the provincial capital. The island is accessible from the coast of Barangay Cadiz Viejo via a 20-minute boat ride. Lakawon’s white sand beach is claimed to rival that of Boracay, a popular island resort off the coast of Aklanin Panay. In stark contrast to its more famous counterpart, however, Lakawon has a smaller influx of tourists, and the island is not commercially developed.

Another unexpected family trip. We were in a resort at that time when my parents got a call from their friend, inviting them to go to Cadiz Viejo. Mama asked us if we want to go with them, they will bring daw the jetski and the speedboat and we’ll spend 2 days and 1 night in their friend’s rest house which is a 20 minute boat ride to Lakawon Island. Of course, we agreed! hihihi ;D

On the way to Cadiz Viejo

We left Bacolod at around 2:30pm and arrived at Cadiz Viejo around 5:30pm. We stayed in our parents friend’s rest house for an overnight, since Lakawon is much better to visit in daytime. We were warmly accommodated by our parents friend, since he is the one cooking and preparing for the dinner. He’s really nice.

On the way to Lakawon Island

We woke up at around 7:00am but we left at around 8:30am already. It is because they had a hard time transferring the jetski and speedboat to to the water. We are about 18 (9 adults, 7 kids, 2 infants). 14 of us rode the banca and the others rode the jetski and speedboat. We payed at around Php1,500 to Php2,000 for the banca.

Hello Lakawon 😉

Finally! We have arrived, hihihi 🙂 We immediately jump off the boat and swim at Lakawon’s crystal clear water!

By the beach

Look at its golden sand! That’s my mama, my niece, my two sisters enjoying the sand, sun, and the beach 😉

Waverunner 😉

I really couldn’t understand. I don’t know how to swim and afraid to fall off the deep blue sea, but when it comes to driving a waverunner/jetski I can really pull off those guts! Though I’m too mabagal daw according to my brother hahaha

Wacky faces 😀

Those tired faces! hihi Sun burnt skin 😉 Just took some shots before having our lunch. TIP: You need to bring lots of FOOD and WATER if you plan to spend the whole afternoon in Lakawon, for there are no available restaurants nor convenience stores in the island. They just had a small sari-sari store and sell softdrinks and water for a GOLDEN price 😀 (Sakto coke costs about Php30 while sprite costs Php50, if I’m not mistaken). So be sure to bring COOKED food already!

Taking some shots! 😉

Other side of the island

And this is the other side of Lakawon, where the locals there are living. It’s much windy here making it the best place to take some nap after a tiring activity at main side of Lakawon. There are trees around the place that’s why it is more relaxing and avoid the sun’s heat.

Going home..

It’s time to bid our goodbyes to Lakawon! Buh-byeee! I had fun Lakawon!
